tenerife, spain viewThe largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, the words “paradise” and “exotic” are often used when describing beautiful Tenerife.  From volcanic mountains to breathtaking beaches to groves of banana trees, visitors to this island will be greeted with a wealth of sights, sounds, and smells, all part of the Tenerife experience.

Tenerife, Spain - Island Overview

Adventure travelers will head to El Teide National Park, home to the volcanic crater which is the centerpiece of the Canadas del Teide mountain range.  The national park also boasts the highest peak in both Spain and the Atlantic Ocean.  Take a cableway most of the way up and hike the rest on foot.

If it’s beaches you’re looking for, Tenerife won’t disappoint.  The fascinating black sand volcanic beaches of Playa de El Puertito and Playa buildings in Tenerifedel Roque – in addition to lots of golden sand beaches - offer sunbathing, swimming, windsurfing, and much more.  Beachfront hotels provide excellent accommodations and stunning sunset views!

Puerto de la Cruz, with its old fishing port and cobblestone streets, is charming!  The most visited town on the island, Puerto de la Cruz boasts botanical gardens, banana plantations, and even a parrot park.  Santa Cruz, the financial center of the island, is a bustling harbor for cruise ships and the perfect place to do a little power shopping!
