Flying with the Large Airline Carriers
The largest airline carriers operating in Spain are Iberia and SpanAir. Why does this matter? If you are planning to fly from one city to another in Spain, you should keep in mind that if you miss a flight of if there is a
cancellation, you will need to find another flight, preferably with the same airline. Iberia and Spanair have so many flights leaving, that we missed a flight to Valencia and were able to get a flight to Madrid and back over to Valencia at no extra cost and in less time than waiting 3-4 hours for the next flight to leave out of Barcelona.
PricesWhen flying
within Spain you should be able to find a round trip flight to most cities in Spain for $80-$200 depending on the date and airline. In our experience, it seems to be the most economical way of traveling if time is important. The costs of traveling with a rental car can get quite expensive after figuring in car rental costs, insurance (since it is in a different country), gas, and toll roads(mainly on the East Coast of Spain in Catalunya). Traveling by bus or train are the most economical, but unless you can get on the high speed train, your trip may take twice as long as traveling by car.
Where to Buy
Prices seem to be about 40% cheaper by buying the tickets directly from Iberia.com or Spanair.com. You can also check the following price comparison sites. They also offer hotel packages, so you might save more with the package price.
